Days Six & Seven-Rafting and Beach Adventures

Sorry for the delay in updates! The last two days we have been so busy having fun that we haven't had time to sit down and write!

Wednesday, March 15th--Rafting
Today we woke up at the crack of dawn and drove two hours to the Pacuare River to start our rafting adventure. The Pacuare River is one of the top five rivers in the world to raft due to its location and scenery, which is beautiful rainforest. Several of us commented that we felt like we were in an adventure movie throughout the day. We were divided into three boats, of which only one had zero people fall out--the senior boat, way to go Seniors! Sorry about the spills Mr. Boer and Courtney! Halfway through the rafting trip we pulled aside and ate a delicious meal of chicken burritos in the middle of the rainforest. It was definitely a meal to remember as we were surrounded by beautiful scenery, it was lightly raining, and we saw a blue jean frog! After lunch we continued to raft for another two hours and were surrounded by primary forest, which has been untouched by mankind-still exactly how God created it. There were several highlights of the day: seeing butterflies follow us along the river, seeing two toucans fly overhead to cross the river, splashing one another along the way, and riding down some class 2-4 rapids. As we debriefed in the evening with our daily question, "Where did you see God today?", most students said they saw Him in the grandness of His creation that we witnessed throughout our rafting trip.

Thursday, March 16th--Beach Day

Today was another bright and early morning as we headed four hours across the country to Manuel Antonio Beach. We were able to stop along the way at a bridge and saw around 30 alligators circling below! We continued our drive and pulled up to a beautiful hotel in the middle of the rainforest. We spent most of the afternoon swimming in the pool or hanging out at the beach. This evening we enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner at a large table on the beach and enjoyed some great conversation. As we debriefed tonight most students answered our daily question with seeing God through our conversations and relationships that we are forming this week. Also, all of us have been thoroughly impressed and thankful for the joy and service we see every day through our translator/guide, Ronald, and our bus driver extraordinaire, Enrique--WE LOVE THEM!

Tomorrow we are planning to walk into the Manuel Antonio National Park and our hope is to find some monkeys and sloths! We'll keep you posted!
