Devos Catch Up - Love Always Trusts, Love Always Perseveres, Love Never Fails.

 Love Always Trusts - Cooper

Cooper shared Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.” Cooper shared a story of a tightrope walker who walked across the rope and everyone cheered, then he walked across the rope with a wheelbarrow and everyone cheered, then he asked everyone if they trusted him and they cheered, yes! Until he asked one of them to get inside the wheelbarrow. How often do we say we trust God, but are not willing to get inside the wheelbarrow? Even if we’ve seen him come through over and over (like the tightropes), we sometimes doubt he’s going to come through for us in the moment. Cooper gave an example of us trusting in Limon, when our whole day changed and we just had to trust God to redeem that day and make it valuable. He also shard Psalms 91:2 - “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” The next time we go astray, we need to trust in God. He is our refuge. He is our fortress.

Love Always Perseveres - BT

BT shared the parable about the lost sheep. That even though only 1 sheep strayed, the shepherd left the 99 to go pursue that one sheep. God is pursuing us. He wants a relationship with us. He always perseveres with us, even when we are wandering away. Bryan mentioned that all of us as athletes are used to pursuit - we pursue championships and winning all the time. But do we pursue Christ? Do we persevere in pursuit of the “championship” in our relationship with Christ? If we pursue Him, He will open the doors and it’s a wild ride, but a fun ride. He challenged our kids to pursue God. Persevere.

Love Never Fails, - Harrison

Señora encouraged us to abide in faith, hope and love. God’s love has no failure, there is nothing we can do to add to it or take away from it. She shared a few verses:

  • 1 John 3:18 - “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.” On this trip we talked about the 5 love languages, and we need to carry that out. Practical acts of love are so much better than just saying “I love you.” - Show it. Prove it. And we need to be intentional about practicing all these things when we get back home. Be intentional about how we’re showing love.
  • Luke 11:13 - “If then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” We need to ask and he will give it! We can’t do 1 Corinthians 13 - we can love well - without him. We need to ask him to help us love Him and love others well.
God’s love doesn’t fail, but what is our part? What’s our game plan as we go back? Think about how much time we spent on our gadgets and phones this week? How much time did we spend with the Father? Have a game plan and spend time with Him so we can understand his love for us and it can help us to love others better.
