2023 - Day 1 & 2 Devotions Update

This year our theme for our trip devotions is "God Is...". We are learning what all the names of God mean throughout this trip.

Senora Harrison started us off in the airport by introducing us to the vastness of God. She explained that because He is so vast 1 name can't contain Him. She explained that every name mentioned for God in scripture describes a different part of His character. She also talked about how trust comes from having a relationship with someone, we can't fully trust God unless we have a relationship with Him. Do we know God or do we KNOW God and trust Him.

Kalei then shared yesterday about God's first name mentioned in scripture - Elohim. Elohim is first mentioned in Genesis 1:1 where it says, "In the beginning God created". Elohim means The Creator. Kalei encouraged us that if we're feeling down or off during this trip or in life we should look towards God & His creation.

Jose shared this morning about El Elyon. This name was mentioned in Daniel 4:34-35, it means "The Most High". Jose shared that El Eylon rules over all and nothing is outside his rule. In Ephesians 5:18-20 it talks about how He is in control even when we are going through hard things. Sometimes it doesn't feel like God is there during our hard times but we have to trust that He is the rule and he is Sovereign overall. We need to stay faithful even through the hard times and trust He has a plan.

Finally, Alena shared tonight about El Roi, the God who sees. In this chapter it talks about how to deal with feeling like a failure or feeling unseen. When we're feeling that way we need to remember that like Hagar, we can call on the Hod who sees. God is awake and aware, he sees the sins against us, he sees our sins. Proverbs 5:21 says "the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord." He is with us and He sees us. Senora Harrison added, God doesn't leave, we do. Are we seeking Him?
